Improving Communication and Meditation

A day in the life of my son:

 “How was your day?”football-meditation.JPG

“Not good. We lost in football and the other team cheated.”

“How did they cheat?”

“They had 40 kids on their team, football is more like with 9 or so; that’s the school rule.”

“Did you have fun playing football?”

“I was so angry throughout meditation.”

“Meditation? Where do you have meditation?”

“On the floor.”

“No, I mean who leads the meditation?”

“It’s a tape.”

“Which class is it in?”

“I don’t know.”

“Was it in music class or P.E. or your normal class?”

“Oh, normal class.”

“Well, what did you meditate on?”

“Nothing. Meditation is thinking about nothing.”

“No, actually it is thinking on something. It is focusing or contemplating on something or someone. I meditate on God.”

“Oh, yeah, that is real meditation. We just do fake meditation in class. Did I tell you I scored a touchdown?”

    *sigh* I can relate.

Some of my favorite blog posts are snippets of conversations with our kids.
