I’ve never owned a scale. I thought if I owned a scale I would be too worried about my weight and thought it would be more important to watch how my clothes fit me. I’ve been watching how my clothes fit me lately and I don’t like how they fit me so I bought a scale.

When you first start blogging you look at your blog stats daily or maybe hourly. Your curious to know if anyone reads your blog. Afterall there are millions of people on the internet, surely someone finds your blog interesting. Maybe not. When you buy a scale I think you do the same thing. You weight yourself at random times of the day. You eat a bowl of ice cream and see if you gained any weight. You run around the block to see if you lost any weight. You see what you weighed if you only had one leg, etc. Yes, I am spending too much time on the scale. One hour I’ve gained an ounce the next one I’ve lost 3 ounces. I took a bath and gained a few ounces. I cut my hair just to lose more weight. I think I have a problem.

So I am going to only weight myself once a week. But right now I need some ice cream. I will jog in place while I eat it though so it balances out.

Oh, my gosh, you are so right! I have suffered from the same obsessions: what does just my head weigh? what if I take my makeup off first? Okay, just kidding on that one. But this is just one reason why I don’t have a scale either. I am curious though…maybe I’ll come use yours.

scales are dangerous!! I always judge my weight by the way clothes fit me too. Ice Cream Is also my downfall!

Ice cream is baaaad, but it’s just SO good! 🙂 Weigh yourself at the same time of day, always. I know that my weight can fluctuate as much as FIVE pounds from morning until night. I always weigh myself when I first get up in the morning, before I put on my jeans. You’ll get more consistent weights if you always do it at the same time. Also, remember everything you eat HAS weight. You don’t gain that weight until several days later. The consequences come later! 😛

So on my first Xmas, my wife buys me some sweats—Size L. I thank her diligently, as I should. A year goes by, I try them on…I have gained the dredaed first year lbs of marriage. So I frantically try all “As seen on TV” gimmicks to lose the wirght I know I must…Fast forward 7 years, I am packing up my clothes for a new move, tucked in the bottom of my drawer is my “1st year sweats”. Do they fit? Sadly they do not…I look at the tag again, maybe I misread “L” for “M”—common mistake I know. Nope, they are Large…Women’s Large. I changed my lifestyle for Womens sweats!!!

Stick to the scale…how do you weigh with one leg off?

meleah — I must say I agree with both those thoughts

momma knows — if I weighed myself at the same time it wouldn’t be as much fun!

Dlight — didn’t the lace around the collar give it away?

The trouble with scales are that they never work right in the first place and if you have to adjust it to start at zero weight then is it really correct?? I do beleive YOU recently were on my scale and you asked me if it was correct……now you are ‘watching’your own scale, so apparently what you saw wasn’t what you wanted to see. Once you believe it, then you go to the Dr. and his says something else, then the gym and it again says another weight……I like the idea of just eating the ice cream..or in my case..frozen yogurt and jogging in place!!

oh my gosh DLight…….that is too funny! Please tell me they weren’t red ones though, I mean being Christmas and all, were they? Because…..well I hate red sweats on a man, even if they say Womens inside! I am married to a man that loooves his red sweats and looked for 3 years to find a pair…you didn’t say you gave them to the Goodwill did you? yikes that is where he shops!!

Nekikay–yes, I do think your husband’s sweats are the same ones he had — once again the lace around the collar gave it away.

Funny, what we are aware of changes our behavior and perceptions.

I don’t own a scale for exactly those reasons.

I am my own worst enemy.
